Burger King has joined the many companies incorporating the season into their product packaging. The festive release, along with the Winter Whopperland menu will be available in participating Burger Kings in the US, UK, Latin America, and Asia. It features coffee cups covered in reindeer and mistletoe, Santa’s belly-inspired sandwich wraps, and joyful to-go bags all designed by Turner Duckworth. Still using the recognizable BK design and graphics, the holiday packaging adds a dash of humor and joy into each customer’s order. "Celebrating the season, coffee-cups feature tree lights, a red-nosed reindeer and mistletoe. Santa’s belly inspired the Whopper sandwich wraps and a few holiday-themed characters were developed for the always-animated Chicken Fries boxes. The range is all wrapped up in joyful takeaway bags." We completed a range of designs for The Vineyard Belfast- starting with their Brand identity, then printed bottles for their Growlers (2 sizes) and more recently Gift cards and Wallets- we just received the above range of promotional shots of all from them, they were so good we just had to share them!
If you wish to read more on the work we carried out on these follow this link: The Vineyard Belfast Thanks again to Karen and the guys at The Vineyard, looking forward to more projects in the coming months! Be sure to keep an eye out in the shops for the redesigned Tayto packaging that we have been involved with over the past few months. As well as changing the design Tayto have selected a heavier film giving the packaging a better feel as well as over all look- we have also strengthened a couple of the colours to really make them jump off the shelf!
It was quite a tough brief to change every element of the actual famous pack but to keep them still very familiar to possibly every single person in N Ireland! AS well as the new packets we have also re illustrated Mr Tayto- giving him a range of emotions and poses. To read and see more about this job please follow this link: Tayto Redesign We have just completed a great range of Porridge Pots for Glen Oats- the brief was to keep a traditional feel but to funk it up with a modern twist!
These have just been launched in Germany and we are looking forward to seeing how they sell. If you want to see more about this brand and more detail on the other aspects of design we completed for this have a look at the portfolio section of our site. Wishing Hayley and the Team great success on this product and looking forward to working together in future. www.GlenOats.com Taylor Simpson dreamed up the use of genuine deer antlers in the place of standard handlebars. Interestingly, apart from the natural asymmetry of the horns, the general form of them bears quite a bit in common with a range of more conventional components -- minus the pointy offshoots. The designer enhanced this eccentric concept by using recycled metal, epoxy and paint to sharpen the product up. Special packaging was also designed for the Moniker Cycle Horns to accommodate their broad and awkward shape. Love the concept and the execution. www.taylorsimpsondesign.com We have just completed an exciting project for a local distribution company- we designed a range of Vintage themed clocks with Kelloggs Vintage branding and imagery.
Wishing Nigel and his team all the best with this range and with future ranges. keep an eye out in your local stores for the new clocks, and remember who designed them! See more of the designs on our portfolio page: Kelloggs Inspired by all the growths of facial hair, we thought we would invent something to make the month of Movember that little bit easier to get through.
If your Dad, Husband, Son, Brother or Friend has started down the path of the bearded and moustached ones, then perhaps you could buy them some Tash Wash to ensure those bristles are kept in tip top condition- then again seeing as this is a fictional product by us at Blackthorn- dig deep and instead sponsor your buddy again!! Well done to all taking part, looking forward to seeing how they all develop! We have a range of designs appearing now in Aldi stores across the UK and Ireland. The above was the first one we completed, the carmel squares didn't last long after photography!
Working closely with the supplier and to the Aldi style guide the design was signed off and printed in next to no time! We will be posting more images of the ranges in the coming month or so - lets see if you can see them on shelf! See more on this project in our Portfolio section. Packaging is something we're bombarded with on a daily basis. So creating something eye-catching is a real challenge, especially with many companies now looking to create biodegradable or renewable packaging as part of the movement towards more sustainable design.
This bottle design for Firewood Vodka would certainly catch our eye in a busy supermarket. This clever forestry-influenced packaging was designed by Belarusian designer Constantin Bolimond. |
Blog or News?As well as graphic and packaging design, I am fascinated by new media and marketing, here I aim to pull together the best of this plus great online design "finds". Enjoy! Archives
